The large-scale outdoor cinema transformed the airport runway into an immersive drive-in premiere event.

In October 2020, Disney+ premiered the highly anticipated series “The Right Stuff,” telling the story of NASA’s original Mercury astronauts. Instead of a traditional red-carpet premiere, the event required a completely new approach to audience experiences due to pandemic-era restrictions.
Disney partnered with MetaT3ch to produce a large-scale drive-in theatre experience at Santa Monica Airport. The expansive airfield allowed the premiere to welcome guests in a safe, socially distanced environment while still delivering the spectacle and excitement expected from a Hollywood world premiere.
