DirecTV Neon Carnival Coachella

MetaT3ch produced the immersive DirecTV Neon Carnival installation during Coachella Music Festival 2022 in Palm Springs, California. The project featured a massive 35-foot projection dome, interactive “DirecTV Space” experience, and large-scale festival environments designed to transform the desert venue into an immersive nighttime entertainment destination.

Neon Carnival has become one of the most anticipated private events of Coachella weekend, attracting celebrities, artists, and festival guests to a late-night celebration that blends music, art, and immersive experiences.


During the 2022 Coachella Music Festival, DirecTV partnered with MetaT3ch to create a standout brand activation within the Neon Carnival environment. The goal was to produce an unforgettable experiential environment that merged large-scale visual installations with interactive guest experiences.

Transforming the Desert Into an Immersive Festival Landscape

Located just outside the Coachella festival grounds in Palm Springs, the Neon Carnival event site spans an expansive desert landscape filled with rides, entertainment installations, and hospitality environments.


MetaT3ch produced the scenic infrastructure and immersive installations that transformed the open space into a visually striking nighttime environment. Tropical-themed scenic elements, illuminated structures, and immersive lighting design created a futuristic environment that blended festival culture with cinematic visual storytelling.

Engineering the 35-Foot Projection Dome Experience

The centerpiece of the DirecTV activation was a massive 35-foot diameter projection dome that served as a visual focal point for the entire environment. The spherical dome structure created a fully immersive canvas for large-scale 3D projection mapping.


MetaT3ch engineered the dome structure and projection system using eight synchronized high-powered digital projectors to create seamless visuals across the curved surface. Custom-developed 3D content was designed to wrap the dome with animated visuals, transforming it into a living piece of digital architecture.

The Immersive “DirecTV Space” Installation

Adjacent to the projection dome was the immersive “DirecTV Space” experience, a futuristic environment designed to transport guests into a surreal alternate reality.


Guests entered through a custom scenic portal surrounded by tropical landscape installations and neon lighting. Inside the installation, custom-built panels, lighting systems, and audio design created the sensation of stepping inside a futuristic spacecraft environment.


Creating immersive themed environments like this is a core part of scenic fabrication for events, where production teams design and construct environments that transport guests into new worlds.

Real-Time Visual Performance and Festival Energy

The projection dome also served as a dynamic performance backdrop during the evening event. Real-time visuals were controlled by a live VJ who synchronized the projection content with music throughout the night.


Dancers, DJs, and performers interacted with the projection environment while animated visuals transformed the dome with constantly evolving patterns and digital effects.


The combination of live entertainment and immersive visual technology created an environment that felt both theatrical and energetic, capturing the spirit of Coachella weekend.
